Horses for sale and horses needed

We have two Medallist yearling fillies for sale. Both are well mannered, rangy and clean legged individuals. One is out of a Silver Hawk mare who is from the family of two year old Champion Stevie Wonderboy. Her pedigree is here . The second filly is by a stakes placed Homebuilder mare who is a half sister to the dam of stakes winners Don Corleone and the undefeated 2008 Indiana Derby winner Tin Cup Chalice. Interestingly enough her 4th dam is a half sister to the famous racehorse Silky Sullivan. Her pedigree is here. Both fillies are headed off to be broke next week.

We are looking for racehorses of all varieties. If you have anything that you are interested in moving please e mail me at www.simonracing1@aol.com or www.becbloodstock.com or call at 502 489 7492 or 502 639 0707.

Congrats to Dr. King

Congratulations are in order for our client and friend Dr. Patrick King and his wife who sold an outstanding Offlee Wild colt at the Fasig Tipton Fall yearling sale for $140,000. The colt who was hip number 555 sold very well despite the continuing trend of declines in the bloodstock market. The Kings have the colts weanling half brother by Margies Wildcat and the mare is open this year.

Divine Park retired

Divine Park who won 6 of 9 starts including the 2008 Grade 1 Met Mile and more than $600,000 dollars has officially been retired to stud. He will stand at Airdrie Stud in Midway, Kentucky for a fee of $17,500 which makes his purchase for $20,000 by BEC at the 2005 September sale look like one of the biggest bargains of the decade. BEC can help you find horses like this (though we cant guarantee stallion prospects for $20,000 every time!) and ones like Genuine Devotion who is expected to bring in excess of seven figures at the Fasig Tipton November sale. Contact us by email at becbloodstock@yahoo.com, by phone at 502 489 7492 or drop us a note on the blog.

Mares for Sale

BEC has a number of broodmare prospects for sale. We have four 4 year old mares, one by Mazel Trick and another by E Dubai who are both recently retired due to minor issues. The first filly is named Bob's Bean who is a winner out of the family of champion filly Pebbles. She is priced at $2500. The second filly is named E Major who is out of the multiple stakes winning mare Make Contact. Canadian horse of the year Fanfreluche and hot sire Chapel Royal are both found up in her female family. She is priced at $10000. We have another filly off the track who has solid European bloodlines. Her name is Carwell and she is by Kings Best out of the Theatrical mare Lady Kestrel. Her page includes such names as two-time European champion Committed, Breeders Cup turf winner and champion older turf male English Channel, Grade 1 winner Pharma, and Grade 2 winner Hap. She won her 1st two starts in England and showed promise in her initial US starts before injuring an ankle and losing her form. Her asking price is $10000 also. The 4th mare is a Henessey mare named Miss Celebrity. She is out of a stakes placed and stakes producing Carson City mare named Tranquility Jane. Her second dam is the grade 2 winner Dianes Halo who comes from the family of multiple graded stakes winner and sire Domestic Dispute. Her price is $8000. Offers will be entertained on all the fillies and a discount will be considered for multiple horses. Contact BEC at (502) 489 7492 for information.

OBS a disaster

The OBS October mixed sale was expected to be down with the market turmoil and general downturn in the auctions. It wasn't supposed to be this bad. The numbers out of the Ocala sale were scary. The average for the open sessions was only $5300 and which was off almost 18% despite a much smaller book. There were dozens of horses who brought no bids and many others that were sold for the minimum price or a few hundred more. The preferred session was no better, the average was $18300 compared to $26700 last year despite 138 fewer horses being sold. I expect the Fasig Tipton fall yearling sale to be off by at least 15% and it wouldn't be a shock to be more than that. It is an extreme buyers market and that doesn't look like it will change for a while.

Genuine Devotion to be offered at Fasig Tipton November

Multiple and graded stakes winner Genuine Devotion will be offered for sale in the November Fasig Tipton mixed sale. Purchased as a yearling by BEC for $90,000, Genuine Devotion has captured three stakes in as many attempts highlighted by the Grade 3 Locust Grove Handicap. Here is an excerpt from a recent Daily Racing Form story about her.

"Genuine Devotion in Fasig-Tipton catalog
After undefeated Group 1 winner Mastercraftsman's full sister sold for about $1.4 million on Tuesday at Goffs, the Crossroads Sales agency in the U.S. announced that it will offer a three-quarter-sister to that pair, Genuine Devotion, at the Fasig-Tipton November select mixed sale.
Grade 3-winning Genuine Devotion is in "light training" with Kiaran McLaughlin, according to Crossroads Sales, and will be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect. A 4-year-old Rock of Gibraltar filly, Genuine Devotion is a three-time stakes winner, having captured the Grade 3 Locust Grove Handicap and the Upper Noosh Stakes in 2008 and the Xtra Heat Handicap in 2007.
Fasig-Tipton's November mixed auction is set for Nov. 2, starting at 3 p.m. The sale will take place at Newtown Paddocks in Lexington."

Also entered in the sale is High in the Park, an Ascot Knight mare whose main claim to fame is being the dam of grade 1 winner Divine Park. He was also purchased by BEC at the same yearling sale as Genuine Devotion.
